Orthodontics with Invisalign®
We fully understand that, for many people, the one thing stopping them from undertaking orthodontic treatment is the thought of having visible braces on their teeth for anything up to two years or more.
Crowded or protruding teeth may already be an area which causes a lack of confidence and, as such, it’s not uncommon to feel that braces will simply add to that feeling. If this sounds like you, don’t worry!
As long as your problem is suitable for Invisalign®, why not consider treatment with this great technique? Invisalign® uses a series of clear aligners which are almost invisible. No one will need to know you’re wearing braces and you could have a fantastic looking smile relatively comfortably and quickly.
Commonly used for treating adults, it’s also a technique that is suitable for some teenagers, providing they can be trusted not to lose their aligners!
Case report 1: Invisalign teen – correction of crowding and posterior crossbite
"When I came to this practice, it wasn’t just about the appearance, it was also the bite and just how comfortable I felt with my teeth as I did have overcrowding. Now I am 100% happy with my smile."
Ella had a consultation with a direct to consumer aligner manufacturer. Unconvinced with their advice, she sought an opinion with specialist orthodontist, Claire Nightingale, before she committed to orthodontic treatment with Invisalign. She had crowded front teeth and a crossbite on the right side. After only 14 months of treatment, Ella’s diligence with wearing clear aligners has been rewarded and she now has a comfortable bite with a smile to be proud of!
Case report 2: Invisalign teen - correction of prominent teeth
"I had a really massive overbite before and I really wanted to fix that because it was making me very uncomfortable to smile."
Rana’s upper teeth were prominent by nearly 8mm. Given a choice between conventional fixed braces or Invisalign, she chose to correct her bite with Invisalign. She still had to wear elastic bands, however! Fourteen months after starting treatment, Rana is delighted with the results – as are we.
Case report 3: Invisalign comprehensive – correction of anterior crossbite
Jane had a long lower jaw which meant that her lower teeth trapped her upper teeth incorrectly (a crossbite). One of her upper incisors was worn down as a consequence. Jane had orthodontic treatment with Invisalign, including wearing elastic bands, for only 9 months. Once her bite was corrected, her dentist was able to restore her worn tooth beautifully with composite bonding.
Case report 4: Invisalign comprehensive – correction of crowding and posterior crossbite
“I’ve been absolutely delighted. Claire was extremely patient and explained things to me. I was sometimes quite worried when I tried to put the next set of retainers in and I knew I had to do it and it was really quite an effort, but it’s been well worth it. I think you want to put a good face on the world and I think it’s a sad thing if people think just because they’ve stopped doing paid work on a daily basis that they should give up on their personal appearance. It’s almost more important as you’re getting older to maintain your image.”
Morfudd became very self – conscious of her smile after a boss suggested she should have something done about her teeth! On retirement, she decided the time had to come to invest in herself, (rather than the kids for once!) and create a smile to carry her through the next stage of her life.
In addition to having crowded teeth, she had a size mismatch in her jaws, which resulted in her upper left molars meeting on the tongue surface of her lower molars (a posterior crossbite). After only one year of treatment with Invisalign, Morfudd achieved a great result, improving both the look of her smile and the function of her bite. She had some restorative dental treatment with her own dentist to focus on the health of her teeth and even 10 years later, her smile looks fabulous.
No one needs to know
you're wearing braces
Clear aligners are a genuine treatment possibility for many people wanting to straighten their teeth.
Orthodontics with aligners is a course of treatment using a sequence of removable, clear, plastic braces (aligners), which are taken out for eating and cleaning.
Comfortable and aesthetic, aligners move teeth gently and conveniently. Each aligner is worn a minimum of 22 hours per day for 1-2 weeks, to complete tooth movement before the next one is required.
